Haym Benaroya is a professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Rutgers University, a founder and director of the Center for Structures in Extreme Environments, as well as author, most recently of the book Building Habitats on the Moon: Engineering Approaches to Lunar Settlements, and a frequent guest on The Space Show with Dr. David M. Livingston.

A Word From Haym:

A love of the possibilities of space exploration and settlement, initially on the Moon, but eventually on Mars and the Solar System, is borne out of the positive vision it engenders for humanity. Space opens up a universe of possibilities. It creates new options for how people will view their lives and those of their descendants. But equally important and hopeful, space also opens up avenues for improvement of life on Earth for all its inhabitants. The engineering of space travel and lunar habitats, creates technologies that can improve life on Earth. By learning how to create safe and happy environments for humans in the unforgiving space environment, we also increase our understanding of healthful and productive lives on Earth. The InterPlanetary Festival is an exposition of such visionary and positive perspectives of our future in Space, but also how that benefits all of us on Earth as well. It will be a tremendous adventure. I am thrilled to be a part of it.”
